Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) is a premier, co-educational, independent day school that traces its roots and traditions back over 110 years. STS develops well-balanced students for a life of purpose by inspiring excellence in scholarship, leadership and character.

The School offers a rich and robust co-curricular program, a technology-rich environment and enrolls approximately 670 students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. In addition to a strong academic program, STS is the only independent school in Alberta to develop students’ global perspective through the International Baccalaureate Programme (PYP, MYP, and DP) and through membership in the Round Square international network of schools. Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher
1.0 FTE Probationary

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment both within the department and across the curriculum. The candidate will also have a strong understanding of the Alberta Program of Studies. A knowledge of and/or training in the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an asset. In order to support student learning in a technology-rich environment, candidates should have experience using technology in the classroom.

Employees new to STS participate in a dynamic and supportive mentorship program. This is a probationary 1.0 FTE position commencing August 23, 2017 that could lead to a permanent contract upon a successful evaluation.  The successful candidate must hold (or be eligible to obtain) an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Middle and Senior School Mathematics
1.0 FTE Temporary

This teaching position will be a great fit for someone with experience teaching mathematics to Middle and/or Senior School.  The assignment will include teaching three sections of Grade 7 and two sections of Grade 10 mathematics.  The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment both within the department and across the curriculum.   

The candidate will also have a strong understanding of the Alberta mathematics curriculum.  Though not necessarily prerequisites for this role, knowledge of, and/or training in, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and experience working in an independent school setting are considered assets.  In order to support student learning in a technology-rich environment, candidates should have experience using technology in the classroom. 

This is a 1.0 FTE temporary position covering a medical leave commencing immediately and extending for approximately one month.  A valid Alberta teaching certificate is essential. The job description can be viewed here.
