Q. What do you look for in an applicant?
A. STS seeks students and families who are committed to a well-rounded educational experience. STS students are inspired to seek excellence in scholarship, leadership, and character. Most importantly, the Admissions Committee seeks to ensure each individual applicant is a fit for the program we offer at STS.
Q. What is the average class size?
A. Average class size is 16-18 students.
Q. Do you offer Financial Assistance (FA)?
A. Yes. We offer both need-based bursaries and merit-based scholarships. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Q. Can we afford STS?
A. While the cost of an STS education can seem prohibitive; all families are encouraged to apply to the school. Our Financial Assistance program aims to make a STS education as accessible as possible to as many families as possible.

Q. How many students are admitted?
A. Each year, new students are admitted to every grade at STS. Our traditional entry Grades and approximate number of new students are listed below:
Grade 1 - 32 new students
Grade 5 - 20 new students
Grade 7 - 20 new students
Grade 10 - 20 new students
For the 2014-2015 school year, 147 new students joined the STS community.
Q. Can we apply for non-entry levels?
A. Yes. Applications are considered for all Grades throughout the year. Applicants to non-traditional entry Grades, especially Elementary and Middle School families are encouraged to apply during our Early Decision (November 30 deadline) to ensure consideration for available space.
Q. When should we apply?
A. Applications are reviewed in two formal rounds before being considered on a rolling basis. Families are encouraged to begin the application process the fall prior to enrolling at the school.
Q. What if we apply late?
A. Please always feel free to begin the application process by visiting www.sts.ab.ca/admissions/apply. If you have questions regarding available space and timing of an application, please contact the Enrollment Office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Q. Does STS offer mid-year admission?
A. If a family is relocating to the area and space is available, we would encourage application.
Q. What criteria do you use to review applications?
A. The Admissions Committee considers each applicant's academic abilities, character development, and leadership potential in offering a place at STS. These criteria are determined by reviewing each applicant's application, interview, report cards, recommendations, and assessment scores.
Q. What are the STS cut-off test scores?
A. We do not have a set cut-off score. Testing results are used along with school reports, candidate questionnaires and confidential reports received when evaluating each applicant.
Q. Who reads the applications?
A. The Admissions Committee reviews all completed applications. In addition to the Admissions Committee, members of our Students Services team will also be consulted as required.
Q. Are all candidates interviewed?
A. Yes. While an in person interview is encouraged, those families relocating to the area may request a Skype interview. Our Skype name is STSEnrollment.
Q. May I visit the school?
A. Yes! Open Houses and personal tours are the best way to experience STS. Open House dates can be found on the Admissions Calendar. Personal tours can be scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please contact the Enrollment Office to RSVP or schedule a tour (403-938-8326 or email@example.com)
Q. Is bus service available for students?
A. First Student Canada provides bus service to Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School. We currently have 19 buses making over 150 stops around Calgary as well as rural routes to Okotoks, Priddis, and High River. Within Calgary, our buses stop in the NW, SW, and SE. The fee for this service is $2,570.
Q. Is there a membership fee or registration fee for new students or families?
A. Yes, each family is required to pay a $3,500 membership fee per student upon acceptance to reserve a seat for the applicant.
